A gift for my 100yr old Grandpa

In this new role helping out with the HOA activities, I have had the privilege of meeting many new people in the neighborhood.  Earlier this year I met Madonna and Jack.  Jack is an artist and enjoys painting scenes on bottles and other things like antique saws.  I think you would call it folk art.  While discussing neighborhood issues in their home, I was shown some of his work.  It is all very cool but I was particularly interested in a train painting.

Recently, I was stumped trying to find a gift for my Grandfather’s 100th  birthday.  What to get a 100 year old is a difficult question to answer.  He collects antique trains from the early 1900′s and Jack’s painting was the perfect gift.

Jack and Madonna, thanks for sharing your art with me.  My grandfather really liked it too.

June Vandalism

We had some graffiti vandalism back in June.  Some signs and the bridge on Willshire drive were painted with spray paint.  You can read about it in Daily Journal.  Article

The individual listed in article and his dad came back to our neighborhood to voluntarily clean up the mess.  Mary Ann and Dave Whitney (OBM) provided some product and know-how to the teen, and he was able to clean up the damage and his conscience.

Drainage Project

The Board voted to continue working towards a solution on two different drainage problems that have been issues for a few years.  This project is currently and has been previously deemed a high priority.   The following link is a project charter that describes the history, planning, deliverables and tracking of this project.   This is a living document that we will maintain as more detail are available.

2011 2nd Qtr Financials

  • Budget is based on 2011 Budget approved at HOA meeting. Budget is a yearly budget split across months.
  • Some expenses are front loaded or paid in full in the first few months but the budget is spread across the year.  This results in a misleading overage/% budget number.    Algae control and some common area items are examples.
